[THE YOUNG HEAD VICTORIAN CROWN]
Young head crowns of any date which have survived in seriously high grade are some of the most illusive coins in the entire Victorian silver series. Crowns were only struck in three years during the early part of the reign in 1844, 1845 & 1847.
These coins pretty much all entered circulation and were used to destruction during the forty plus years until the issue of the first Jubilee Head coins in 1887.

Most of the Young Head survivors show up in a well worn average state at VG- FINE with the occasional VF.
Finding an example in better than GVF condition is a rare occurrence....with anything better being exceptionally unusual.

This example is literally a “one in a million” survivor.
A totally glorious piece with great eye appeal which has survived and come down to us in astonishing
”CHOICE AU / BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED” condition.
